Train delays after person killed by train at Farningham Road
TRAIN-USERS are facing long delays this afternoon after a person was hit and killed by a train at Farningham Road station.
Officers say they are now working to identify the person, who was pronounced dead at the scene, but say the death is not suspicious.
Southeastern services between Swanley and Rochester are currently suspended and buses are carrying passengers on this route.
A Southeastern spokesman said: “Train services running through this station may be cancelled or diverted at short notice.
“Farningham Road, Longfield, Meopham and Sole Street will not be served.
“An estimate for the resumption of normal services will be provided as soon as the problem has been fully assessed.”
He added: “Replacement buses are being arranged to operate between Strood and Swanley in both directions.
“Valid tickets will also be accepted on High Speed services via Chatham only.”
A British Transport Police spokeswoman said: “BTP officers were called to Farningham Road rail station after a report of a person being struck by a train.
“The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious a file will be prepared for the Coroner.
“Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.”
