THERE are 22 young hopefuls who are bidding to become the next Young Mayor of Lewisham.
Running for the 10th year, election day will take place on October 16, and all the borough's youngsters aged from 11 to 17 are encouraged to vote.
The count will take place on October 17 October, with results announced that evening at a ceremony in Catford's civic suite.
Whoever wins will have be supported by a group of young advisors and handed a £30,000 budget to spend.
The candidate who comes in second place will become deputy, while third and fourth place will represent Lewisham as members of the UK Youth Parliament.
Current young mayor Jamel Higgins said: "Being Young Mayor of Lewisham has been a mind blowing experience for me, and something I will treasure for a lifetime.
"I feel privileged to have represented all young people in Lewisham and have met some great and wonderful people and been a part of fantastic projects and events across the borough."
