A 48-YEAR-OLD alcoholic with a history of mental health issues threatened a fellow Charlton resident with a knife and threatened to "kill all muslims", days after Lee Rigby's death.

John Killeen was staying in a hostel on Anchor and Hope Lane on May 26 when the incident happened, Woolwich Crown Court heard on September 25.

At around 1pm, one resident heard loud banging and shouting.

Mr Killeen was yelling: "Black c**t, you're in a white man's house. I'm going to kill all the muslims."

Killeen later returned with a 6in knife, saying "I'm going to kill you." He managed to call the police and was unharmed.

Judge Anuja Dhir lambasted Killeen, who broke his bail condition straight after pleading guilty to racially aggravated common assault in July, to go to the nearest pub.

She said it was a "sustained" attack, sentencing him to 26 weeks in custody.

But, because of the time he had already spent in jail, Killeen was released that day.

"Oxleas have failed my brother"

John Killeen's sister has slammed the mental health organisation in charge of looking after him, warning he could end up dead.

In a highly unusual move, Maria Parker addressed the judge at her brother's sentencing to slam Oxleas over a series of perceived failures.

Afterwards, she told News Shopper how Killeen was recently released from the Memorial Hospital in Shooters Hill after 17 years as a schizophrenia patient.

She said: "After that, they put him in a New Cross flat next door to a drug dealer who got him hooked on cocaine and god knows what.

"That's an expensive habit and this guy was eventually after him and was going to kill him."

Last January, Killeen was moved to a Thamesmead flat and someone was employed to spend three hours a day with him.

But when Ms Parker came to visit him she found there were bloodstains on the walls, no bed and no electricity.

The 55-year-old, of Shooter's Hill, said: "You wouldn't let a dog live like it. It was like he was living on the street."

Incredibly, hours after last week's sentencing, she said her alcoholic brother was "paralytically drunk" after a carer who took him shopping was persuaded to buy him booze instead of food.

When she visited his flat on an estate, she found her brother not at home and his door wide open. A "good samaritan" later brought him home, after finding the 48-year-old drunkenly slumped in the street.

Ms Parker says she has put in numerous complaints about her brother's treatment and wants him to be given more suitable accommodation with proper supervision.

Likening her brother's case to Greenwich Oxleas patient Nicola Edgington, who murdered a woman in Bexleyheath, she said: "He will end up dead and then they'll say to me, Mrs Parker, we're very sorry. But it will be too late."

A spokesman for Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust said: “Due to our responsibility to maintain patient confidentiality we are unable to discuss specific details of any patient without their permission.

“Our staff have worked intensively to try to meet Mr Killeen's complex needs, some of which relate to his mental health.

“We are confident they have done all that they could have. We continue to work with partner organisations to consider his care and housing needs."
