Eltham train station - dead man named locally as homeless Dan Richmond
A MAN whose body was found behind a skip at Eltham train station has been named locally as Dan Richmond.
Police were called out at 10.30am on September 27 by one of the station managers, who reported the dead man lying near the car park at the back of the station.
He is believed to be 35-year-old Dan Richmond, a local homeless man who, it has been claimed, was drinking at the back of the station the night before. He is understood to have been struggling with depression.
An area between the car park and booking office was cordoned off while police forensic investigations were carried out.
Several tributes were left to Mr Richmond over the weekend. One card at the scene read: "Really wished that you let Kelly and myself help you in your need. You will be deeply missed by friends and loved ones."
A spokesman for the British Transport Police (BTP) said: "BTP officers were called to Eltham rail station on September 27 following a report of a body in the car park.
"BTP and Met Police officers attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 10.30am and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
"Medics from London Ambulance Service also attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, including the minutes leading up to the man’s death."
