Bexley Council to start selling snow shovels next week
SNOW and ice have been high on the agenda at Bexley Council next week.
Shovels and rock salt go on sale to homeowners from the reuse and recycling centre in Maidstone Road, Foots Cray on Tuesday (October 1).
With a colder than average winter predicted, the council will be selling both the shovels and salt on a first-come-first-served basis at last year’s discounted prices.
A 25kg bag of salt costs £5 and a pre-assembled snow scoop £9.
The council’s cabinet member for the environment and public realm Councillor Gareth Bacon said: “As in previous years, I hope this will encourage a community spirit, bringing neighbours together to help keep pavements and driveways clear of snow and ice.”
Sales of both products are limited to one per household and will only be sold to residents with an orange reuse and recycling centre permit.
