A BODY has been found behind a skip at the back of Eltham train station today (September 27).

Police confirmed they were called at 10.30am to reports of a body in a skip next to the car park at the back of the station.

An area between the car park and booking office has been cordoned off while police forensic investigations continue.

It is understood that a manager at the station found the body this morning and contacted police and paramedics.

Bob Hawkins, who works at the station cab office, said: "Apparently the man had been drinking beers there last night, according to one of the customers.

"When they found him this morning his mouth was foaming."

He added: "When they found him, they felt his hand and he was just stone cold."

A spokesman for the British Transport Police (BTP) said: “BTP officers were called to Eltham rail station on Friday, 27 September following a report of a body in the car park.

“BTP and Metropolitan Police officers attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 10.30am and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

“Medics from London Ambulance Service also attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, including the minutes leading up to the man’s death.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
