VISITORS were given a sneak peek into the world of the Met with open days at Lewisham and Greenwich police stations on Sunday (Sept 22).
The behind-the-scenes tour included fingerprint taking, custody procedures and visits to the horse stables and police pooches including Lewisham’s Sampson.
The open day – which aimed to "demystify and humanise" officers’ work – also saw Safer Neighbourhoods teams on hand to give tips on crime prevention.
Chief Inspector Graham Price, of Partnerships Lewisham, said: "We had a successful and enjoyable open day in which areas of the police station which are not normally accessible were seen by the public.
"People were particularly interested in seeing the custody suite and mounted branch stables and I hope that this will work to demystify and humanise the work of the police.
"I thank all the staff, volunteers and partnership agencies who worked to make the open day a success."
