Bexley police show off crime-fighting kit to public at Bexleyheath open day
BEXLEY police officers showed off some of their crime-fighting kit at an open day in Bexleyheath town centre on Sunday.
The public engagement event in the Broadway from 10am to 1pm was a chance for residents to see a range of the vehicles, specialist units, equipment and resources used by the Met.
Members of the public could also talk to senior local officers about policing in their area while crime prevention advice and material were also available for free.
Safer Transport Teams carried out free cycle security marking of bicycles and registered the details with bicycle registration website BikeRegister to help tackle and prevent cycle crime.
Bexley Borough Commander Peter Ayling said: “We had a fantastic response and people turned up in their hundreds to see the work done by their local police and our partner agencies.
“The day was designed to be fun but informative for all the family and I hope that those who attended enjoyed themselves and experienced some of the unique activities that were laid on especially for them.
“It is important that residents get to ask us directly about their local policing issues and this was the perfect opportunity for them to do so.”
