Thamesmead hoax stuck-in-the-mud call for Gravesend RNLI
LIFEBOATS, police and fire crews hunted the banks of the Thames at Thamesmead for a reported stuck-in-the-mud yesterday.
But the 2.30pm call turned out to be a hoax after a lifeboat search of the foreshore from Cross Ness to Woolwich Arsenal Pier and back could find no signs of anyone mired in the sludge.
Gravesend RNLI was called at around 2.30pm and shore side police, fire crews, a Met marine unit and the PLA all attended.
Nothing was found and the call was deemed to be a prank.
