Danson Park lit up as hundreds of fundraisers enjoy Twilight Walk
DANSON Park was illuminated with flashing lights as hundreds of fundraisers joined forces at a Twilight Walk to raise cash for a children's hospice.
People of all ages paraded through the Bexleyheath park on Friday to support chYps, part of EllenorLions Hospice.
Former Eastenders star Cheryl Fergison joined walkers and was presented with flowers and a certificate of thanks by Cameron Edmonds, 12, from Gravesend, who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and is cared for by the charity.
Cheryl said: "I feel honoured to be a part of such a wonderful event.
"It’s lovely to see so many people supporting chYps to help more children at home, safely and comfortably."
Supporters included patients and families, bereaved relatives, nurses and staff.
The charuty must raise £1.47million annually and hope to beat last year’s £14,000 total, to provide free care for families across north Kent and the Bexley.
Event organiser Emma Middleton said: "This year’s Twilight Walk was fantastic.
"I would like to thank Cheryl Fergison, event sponsors Mazda UK, the walkers, all our volunteers and local businesses who made the walk successful."
