PICTURED: A20 re-opens between Sidcup and Swanley after 'car hits petrol pump'
THE A20 was closed for around two hours between Crittall’s Corner and the M25 after a car crashed into a petrol pump.
Emergency services were called to the BP station on the Kent-bound stretch of the road at around 4pm.
The driver of the Audi was not injured and not taken to hospital.
Police officers shut the road at Crittall’s Corner and it remained shut until 6pm.
The road is now fully open and traffic is beginning to return to normal, although there are delays in the area.
A London Fire Brigade spokesman said they received a call at 4.03pm and "a couple of petrol cylinders" are involved.
He added: "The petrol station is not on fire."
"We are still at the scene but I think we are just cooling the cylinders."
A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called at 4.07pm to reports of a road traffic collision where a car went into a barrier at a petrol station on the Sidcup Bypass.
“We sent our hazardous area response team, an ambulance crew and a duty officer to the scene.
“Our staff checked over a man at the scene but he did not have any injuries and did not go to hospital.”
