ARE children becoming too reliant on technology and which gadgets do you let your kids have access to?
Research earlier this year by online retailer Pixmania found the average child to be spending nearly two hours a day on gadgets, with a quarter of kids using them for more than four hours.
Among pre-schoolers, one in 10 children was using a tablet.
The survey also found that eight out of 10 parents were using the confiscation of tablets and phones, or restricting their use, as their preferred way of punishing naughty kids.
Another survey of parents by Villa Plus has found that not even going away on holiday stops the obsession with IT devices, with technology distractions eating into quality family time.
More than a third of respondents said their offspring used smartphones while away, more than a quarter played on games consoles and more than fifth used tablets.
Thirteen per cent of parents said they were happy for their children to use IT devices as much as they wanted on their last family holiday.
