Greenwich Thames Path is top Lonely Planet city hike
2:49pm Wednesday 18th September 2013 in News
LONDON'S Thames Path is second only to Brazil's Tijuca Forest as best city hike in the world, according to a new book.
The Lonely Planet's 1,000 Ultimate Adventures publication picks out the walk from Kingston to Greenwich as being a global highlight.
Authors describe it as "a London highlights reel, passing Kew Gardens, Battersea power station, Westminster and Big Ben, the Millennium Eye, Shakespeare's Globe and so on".
In south east London, the path runs through Deptford and on to Greenwich before proceeding on to Charlton, Woolwich and Thamesmead.
The path was voted number two in the world - higher than Arthur’s Seat, which overlooks Edinburgh.
