Forest Hill sisters win Horniman walrus competition with Spain snap
TWO Forest Hill sisters who took their Horniman walrus for a wander in Spain have scooped top prize in the museum's competition.
Josie Horneff, seven, and sister Maggie, 10, snapped their cuddly walrus scaling the Sagrada Familia cathedral in Barcelona.
Celebrating the loan of the Horniman Museum's stuffed walrus to the Turner Contemporary in Margate, the competition has seen the cuddly toys travel more than 35,000 miles – about 1.5 times around the circumference of the Earth – to be photographed enjoying their summer holidays.
The furry favourites were taken as far afield as Alsaka and Guam, according to the museum.
Josie said: "It was great fun being with Wilba the Walrus in Spain. He loved Barcelona, the beach and his favourite ice cream was Oreo-flavoured. We really miss the walrus at the museum and can't wait for him to come home."
The sisters have been invited to a tea party for the returning walrus and will get a £20 gift voucher.
