Avante Puddingstone Grange care home looking for real Plumstead puddingstone
11:34am Tuesday 17th September 2013 in News
A NEW care home is asking people to donate a piece of the Plumstead stone which gave the facility its name.
The 62-bedroom Puddingstone Grange on Plumstead Common Road is due to open in October, specialising in dementia care with nursing.
Currently being built on the original site of Plumstead Lodge, home managers Avante Care and Support recently held a competition for residents, families and staff to choose a name for the facility.
Marketing manager Lyndsay Hopper explained: ""Puddingstone Grange was decided by a judging panel.
"The name was chosen because the common has got deposits of puddingstone in it."
Now Avante is hoping a News Shopper reader will donate some of the stone - likened to a Christmas pudding due to its coulourful, rounded pebbles - to use as a centrepiece in the home's gardens.
Ms Hopper added: "The person that donates the stone will be invited to the unveiling of the feature and will be given a small token gift as a thank you."
Dimensions need to be around 30cm by 30cm or larger. Email Lhopper@avantepartnership.org.uk
