'Masked youths' wanted by police after smash and grab raids in Orpington
‘MASKED youths’ caused thousands of pounds of damage when they broke into 17 vehicles during a late night smash and grab raid.
Outside Crundale Tower in Tintagel Road, Orpington, seven cars, including a black taxi, had their windows smashed and a sat nav was stolen.
And around a mile away in a parking area in Meldrum Close, 10 vehicles were broken into and two sat navs were stolen on the same night.
Bromley police are looking for two suspects, aged between 14 and 17, who were riding bicycles.
Reports on Facebook suggest these teenagers had their faces covered during the rampage.
Mother-of-one Zinisha Bradshaw says people affected in Crundale Tower include a mother who has two young children and her partner whose taxi window was smashed.
The 28-year-old said: “The Ramsden estate is turning back into what it used to be.
“One car you could accept but a whole bunch of cars and causing thousands of damage, it’s just reckless.
“To the people who did this I’d say ‘go and get a job, you are doing this to people who are working’.
“I do not know if they are drug users and they have inconvenienced everyone.”
“I had to tape up the window on the cab and the glovebox was down and they were looking for valuables.
“Quite a few cars got done.”
The part-time bookmakers cashier added: “There used to be a camera outside this block on the corner and it needs to be put back there again.”
Anyone who saw what happened on the night of September 9 or knows anything about the raid is asked to call the police on 101.
