Champion athlete Andy Turner inspires Kingswood Centre pupils at Met Track scheme launch
A GOLD medal winning athlete visited Bromley to inspire pupils as part of the Met Track athletics programme.
Youngsters who attend the Kingswood Centre in Hayes Lane listened as 110m hurdler Andy Turner spoke about the motivation which drove him to become a sporting success.
As part of Met Track the youths will now benefit from weekly coaching sessions.
PC Bruce Anton, from Bromley police’s youth partnership unit, said: "Met Track attempts to provide all youngsters with the opportunity to receive international-class sports coaching and having an inspirational Commonwealth Games and European Championship gold medallist present really thrilled and inspired everyone involved.
"Met Track is an excellent example of how the police, together with world-class athletes, can create an environment where young people can explore their hidden talents and channel their energies into something we all respect."
Mr Turner is the current European and Commonwealth champion at 110 m hurdles.
Met Track was originally set up by the police in Bexley in 2005 and now runs in 22 of the 32 Met Police boroughs.
