Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust set for £4 million winter funding boost
DARTFORD and Gravesham NHS Trust is in line for a £4 million funding boost this winter.
The trust, which runs Darent Valley Hospital, will receive £4,080,000 out of £250 million made available to 53 trusts in England and Wales over the next few months by the Department of Health.
The short-term cash injection is part of the Government’s long-term aim to improve care for vulnerable older people and alleviate pressure on A&E services.
Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt said: "This winter is going to be tough which is why the Government is acting now to make sure patients receive a great, safe service, even with the added pressures the cold weather brings.
"But this is a serious, long-term problem, which needs fundamental changes to equip our A&Es for the future.
"In the long term, I want a 24/7 service which recognises patients as individuals and looks out for them proactively."
