Greenwich and Woolwich foot tunnel meeting packed out
5:04pm Thursday 12th September 2013 in News
THE first meeting of a friends group for Greenwich and Woolwich foot tunnels was packed out, organisers say.
Set up following a long-delayed refurbishment scheme of the river crossings, the community group held its inaugural meeting earlier this month.
Organiser Dr Francis Sedgemore said: "There was some talk of cycling in the tunnels, but at the same time a strong consensus and fellow feeling between pedestrians and cyclists. What we saw was community at its best."
Councillor Mary Mills was appointed as the group's chairwoman while Ian Blore from the Greenwich Cyclists group was made secretary.
Further meetings are set to be announced in the coming weeks.
