@ParkesTheEditor faces the dangers of being a twit on Twitter: Editor's Eye comment
I COULDN’T decide what to write about this week. I did see a quite brilliant circus on holiday and toyed with the idea of a campaign to get wild animals back into our circuses too as it makes them so much more exciting.
Still on my holiday theme, and having seen many people in a variety of states of undress, I wondered whether to debate the pros and cons of tattoos. My final thought, was to discuss the very real challenge of trying to book a plumber and how you have to beg them to even consider taking a job!
Unable to decide and not sure if a tattooed monkey could be trained to put in a sink, I found a solution.
Behind the times as always, I’m only just now getting to grips with Twitter.
It’s not that I’m against the idea of tweeting, but more that I didn’t really trust myself not to say something that would a) lead to outrage and b) lead to swift consequences for yours truly.
Not that I plan to start tweeting at midnight on a Saturday after a few strong beers. It’s just that my tongue-firmly-in-cheek humour isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.
I still fear we have created a whole generation who don’t understand the power of social media and the damage they can do to their lives, or am I just being the proverbial old git?
Well, I haven’t had any responses so far, so I’ll have to blame Beckham for the tattoo revolution, manage without tigers and elephants (though I stress that if they did go back into circuses they should be cared for and kept properly, as they are in zoos), and keep begging a plumber to pop round and give me a quote.
So, if you’ve got anything to share send me a tweet @parkestheeditor - particularly plumbers!
