Open-air approval for Dartford music hub in Central Park
OPEN-AIR concerts can now be staged at a Dartford park after planning permission was granted.
Councillors gave the go-ahead to build a ticket office, stage and seating area in Central Park during a meeting on September 5.
Pedestrian access is planned via a footbridge near to the Market Street entrance to the park, with the entertainment hub based close to the unused bowling green.
Recommending approval, Dartford Council planning officer Sonia Bunn wrote in her report to the Development Control Board: “Access to the performance space from the town centre will improve town centre vitality by bringing new people into the area that might link the performance visit with other town centre activities.
“I also consider it is likely to expand the demographics range of those who visit the town centre in the evening which will contribute to the evening vitality and the security of the town centre.
“I consider the proposal will provide a unique facility for the town.”
