POLICE are appealing for witnesses after gun-wielding burglars broke into a Brockley home and terrified a woman and her four-year-old granddaughter.

There were up to five balaclava-wearing men - armed with guns and a knife – who burst into the property in St Asaph Road on Monday (Sept 9) at around 3pm.

The gang demanded cash from the two “traumatised” victims before raiding the address.

Detective Inspector Ian Cameron, of Lewisham`s Serious Acquisitive Crime lead, said: "This was a terrifying attack which occurred in the middle of the day and left both victims traumatised."

Police are looking for five men described as black, wearing balaclavas, gloves and dark clothing with one of the suspects wearing a green camouflage jacket.

DI Cameron added: “I'm convinced that someone in the local area has seen or heard something that could assist us with our investigation.

"I would encourage anyone who has information to speak to our incident room as soon as possible."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lewisham’s major incident room on 020 8284 8337 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
