A MAN has died after being hit by a train at New Cross Gate station this morning.

London Ambulance Service crews were called at 11.15am where the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Southern services between London Bridge and East Croydon and London Bridge and Victoria have been disrupted and passengers can expect delays of up to an hour as well as cancellations.

There are also queues in both directions on A2 New Cross Rd outside the station following the  incident.

Train lines from New Cross Gate  to London Bridge have reopened but services southbound from London Bridge to New Cross Gate via Forest Hill remain suspended.

London Overground and First Capital Connect lines are also affected and passengers can reportedly use tickets on Southern, London buses and underground.

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We were called at 11.15 to reports of a person hit by a train at New Cross Gate station.

""We sent a single responder in a car, two ambulance crews, a duty officer and members of our hazardous area resonse team.

"But sadly one person, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene."

British Transport Police officers were called at 11.23am to the incident and are currently at the scene.
