National Careers Service jobs bus helps Bromley job hunters find work

The Jobs Bus had advisers on hand to help people access the right tools and the right advice to enhance their job prospects.

On the top floor of the bus workshops, run by National Career Service advisers, proved particularly popular with visitors, being fully booked well in advance of the day.

The workshops covered key topics such as top tips on finding a job, how to build a winning CV or job application and how to impress at interviews.

On the bottom floor of the bus, advisers armed with iPads helped around 100 visitors to take their first steps onto the National Careers Service and/or National Apprenticeship Service websites, to show them the tools available for finding a job or apprenticeship.

And people booked themselves in for face to face appointments with advisers so they could get tailored advice and guidance about their personal situation.

A number of local employers and partners were also on hand to share information on job opportunities in the area.

NCS director Joe Billington said: “The success of the careers roadshow in Bromley serves as clear evidence that the Jobs Bus really does work.

"The feedback we have received from visitors has been overwhelmingly positive; many have taken advantage of a workshop with an adviser, while others have been able to find out about the vast range of tools available on the National Careers Service website, to help them take the next steps in their career.

“We aim to support, encourage and inspire people at every stage of their working life, and the roadshow is helping people from all walks of life, from recent school leavers and graduates to the unemployed, receive the right tools and the right guidance to achieve their goals.
