Greenwich police seize 16 vehicles in Eltham, Plumstead, Kidbrooke, Thamesmead
GREENWICH police seized a total of 16 vehicles as their crackdown on uninsured drivers in the borough continued.
Officers from Greenwich Safer Neighbourhoods teams across the borough set up stop sites in Westhorne Avenue, Shooters Hill Road, Plumstead Road, Kidbrooke Park Road, Western Way and Eltham High Street on September 4.
They used automatic number plate technology (ANPR) to identify vehicles driven by suspected criminals and uninsured drivers. Four people were also arrested for a number of driving offences.
The operation, known as Cubo, is part of a London-wide crack down on criminals driving around the capital.
Chief Inspector Andy Johnstone, in charge of the Greenwich operation, said: "We continue to target criminals and uninsured drivers using the roads in Greenwich.
"We will carry on running these operations across the borough. The message to people driving without insurance is simple - when we catch you, we will seize your vehicle."
