Gravesend man left with broken jaw after being kicked by group of men on night out
A GRAVESEND man was left with a broken jaw after being attacked by a group of eight men on a night out.
The 39-year-old fell to the ground and was kicked a number of times following an altercation outside Circus Tavern in Purfleet, Essex, at 1.30am on Saturday.
He also suffered severe bruising to his face and head and remains at the Royal London Hospital after having surgery on his jaw.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Tony Miller said: "The man had been at the Circus Tavern with a group of friends when there was an altercation which led to the assaults.
"The injuries were caused by a group of white men all aged in their late 20s or early 30s.
“We want to hear from any witnesses or anyone with information about the assailants.”
He added: "The Circus Tavern was also hosting a separate charity event for the family of Lee Rigby at the time and we want to hear from anyone at that event who might have seen anything of the assault or people being ejected from the club by the door staff.”
Anyone with information should contact DC Miller at Grays CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 888111.
