Police stand-off near Dartford town centre lasts almost two hours
A POLICE stand-off closed a main road near Dartford town centre.
It was sparked by a man who refused to come out of his property in Highfield Road to speak to officers.
Police were called at 5pm yesterday to reports of concern for his welfare and the road was closed from the junction with Chestnut Lane while he was persuaded to come out.
The 39-year-old man was arrested at 6.45pm on suspicion of affray and remains in police custody.
A Kent Police spokeswoman said: "When officers attended, the man declined to come out of the address and was reported to be acting in a threatening manner."
