DISCOUNT retailer Poundland has shocked parents by selling sex toys next to the till at its Dartford store.

Dimitris Chrysanthou, 38, and partner Heidi Taffs, 35, were left flabbergasted after spotting the £1 vibrators alongside the sweets.

Red-faced Miss Taffs told The Sun: "You'd expect to see something like that for sale in Ann Summers – but not in Poundland. It's a family store.

"I asked the cashier what they were and she went bright red when she told me.

"My eyes nearly popped out.

"She said they were in the health aisle but were moved when one was nicked the first day they went on sale."

Unemployed forklift driver Mr Chrysanthou said: "At first I thought it was a toy. They were on sale at a height a child could easily see. I'm glad I wasn't in there with my 14-year-old son as I'd have some explaining to do."

The 5in Playful Bullet Vibrators were on sale at the Priory Shopping Centre.

A Poundland spokesman said: "We were disappointed to hear the product had not been merchandised correctly in the Dartford store.

"It's been put back in its position on the top shelf in the health and beauty section."
