Man threatening to jump into Thames at Erith sparks stand-off
A MAN was involved in a stand-off with the emergency services and a relative after threatening to jump from a jetty into the Thames at Erith.
Bexley police, ambulance staff and the Gravesend RNLI were called to the incident near Morrison's at around 8am on Saturday. (Aug 24)
The man had climbed over the railings of the 10 metre high jetty.
Eventually the Hazard Area Response Team from London Ambulance Service used equipment to climb the railings to rescue the man.
He was eventually talked down and taken to an ambulance following the 30-minute stand-off.
