Gravesend youngsters put on 20min Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
GRAVESEND youngsters from Woodville Theatre for Youth created their very own make believe chocolate factory at the Woodville on Thursday (Aug 15).
The 23 young people, most of whom had never met, were given a short script and tasked to come up with ideas on how to condense Charlie and the Chocolate Factory into a 20 minute performance involving everyone in the group.
By day three the performers, aged between seven and 15 years old, had put together their very own version of Roald Dahl’s classic with four Willy Wonkas and several Charlie Buckets.
Proud parents watched their children take to the stage and perform their own version of the show on Thursday afternoon.
Claire Goatham, Woodville Theatre for Youth Instructor, said: "The performers worked so hard all week to devise a vibrant and original version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
"For some of the cast this was their first experience of performing but watching the final performance you never would have guessed.
"The performers truly put their heart and soul into making the show a success and it was an absolute pleasure getting to know such talented and creative young people."
