UPDATE: 13 miles of queues back to Dartford Crossing following six-vehicle pile up
MOTORISTS travelling out of Kent into Essex are facing long delays after a six-vehicle accident shut the M25 earlier today.
Traffic was nearly queuing as far back as far as the Dartford Crossing in the hours following the smash, even though the accident happened 13 miles further round the M25 in Essex.
The anti-clockwise motorway was completely blocked between Junction 28 at Brentwood and Junction 27 at the M11.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 10.34am where they found one man trapped in his vehicle.
Firefighters used three sets of cutting equipment to free the man, who was released from his vehicle at 11.26am.
All lanes have now re-opened and the traffic is clearing in the area.
This stretch of the motorway was expected to be busy today, with revellers who spent the weekend at V Festival in Chelmsford using it as the route to head northbound.
