UPDATE: Catford M&S lorry collision leaves elderly woman dead
AN ELDERLY woman has died in Catford after being hit by an M&S lorry at the weekend.
Ambulance crews were called out to the scene on Saturday (Aug 17) at 9.15am to reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian - aged in her 90s - and a lorry at the junction of Thomas' Lane and Catford Road.
A spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service said: "We sent a single responder in a car, two ambulance crews and a duty officer to the scene.
"Sadly, one patient - a female - was pronounced dead at the scene."
Police said that the lorry driver, a man in his 60s, was taken to a south London hospital an treated for shock and later released.
No arrests have been made and the woman's next of kin have been informed.
An investigation will be carried out by the Met's Road Death Investigation Unit.
