Dartford pirate walk raises doubloons for the British Heart Foundation
A PIRATE walk in Dartford was enjoyed by buccaneers of all ages as they helped raise doubloons for the British Heart Foundation.
The youngest seafarer was only five weeks old and joined in with the walk and treasure hunt around the town on August 1.
Entry fees were £5 for children and £10 for adults and participants were also sponsored by family and friends before dressing up as pirates and commandeering Dartford for the day.
Prizes were awarded to the best dressed pirate and all participating swashbucklers received a certificate, medal and free pirate hat.
The money raised from the walk has gone towards sustaining research that will help to predict, prevent and cure heart disease.
Councillor Ann Allen, Dartford Council lead member for health, said: "This was a great and fun opportunity for local residents to raise much needed money to help fund the BHF’s lifesaving work."
Join the next pirate walk on September 21 in Gravesend.
