ALMOST a year since London 2012 and the legacy continues to inspire schools and young people to take part in sport.

Hextable School, Egerton Avenue, hosted their second District Primary Athletics Festival last Wednesday (JULY 10) supported by Kent School’s Education Olympic Legacy Programme “INSPIRE.”

Organised by Young Sports Leaders and Sport Leaders UK, events included the 80m hurdles, torpedo javelin, long jump and rounders ball throw.

The festival was attended by 10 local primary schools and hockey player Kate Holmes, who presented awards to the winners.

The school also hosted a competition to design a logo for the competitors t-shirts to inspire children to fulfil the London 2012 legacy.
