A MEMORIAL football match will pay tribute to a 16-year-old cancer victim from Mottingham.

Ryan Thurston, of Elmhurst Road, was diagnosed with malignant melanoma, a type of skin cancer, in January and was put on pioneering new drugs to battle the disease.

He passed away on April 26 and now his mother, Maria, 48, has organised a five-a-side charity football match with proceeds going to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, which supports the facility in Sutton where he was treated.

The event will take place on July 28 from 10.30am at Eltham Town Football Club in Starbucks Lane, with a host of activities including bouncy castle, face painting and music.
