MORE than 60,000 people flocked to the sun-scorched Danson Festival this weekend.

Visitors were treated to two days of music, shopping and classic cars at Bexley’s Big Weekend at Danson Park.

Corrie character Craig Charles’ Fantasy Funk Band headlined the event last night. The likeable Liverpudlian followed Bexley rockers Leogun, who played two days after supporting Bon Jovi at Hyde Park.

Cllr Don Massey, cabinet member for leisure, said: “What a fantastic weekend! "I never cease to be impressed by the level of community involvement, the high standard of entertainment from local groups and the professionals and the boundless dedication of the volunteers.

"All this goes towards making the weekend such a massive success.

“Figures show that we had more than 60,000 visitors to the park over both days. We also benefited from great support from the local police who rose fantastically to the challenge of dealing with such a huge crowd.”
