A CAR crash happened two weeks before a Bromley schoolboy was injured in the same road, it has been revealed.

A Vauxhall Insignia crashed into a parked VW Golf, at around 2pm on June 17, in Queen Anne Avenue, Bromley, where many residents have complained about the road's dangers.

Both the ambulance and the police attended the scene but there were no arrests.

One patient, a man reported to be in his 30s was taken to the Princess Royal University Hospital in Farnborough.

It is thought the Golf, which belonged to a resident, was written off.

A fortnight later, on July 3, a 10-year-old was hit by a car on his way to Mark’s Church of England Primary School in nearby Aylesbury Road and suffered a leg injury.

A Bromley police spokesman said: "In the last year in Queen Anne Avenue there have been three collisions where someone has been being injured and two 'damage only' accidents.

"There have also been three reports made to us of parked cars having their wing mirrors damaged by passing vehicles."

Many of the road’s residents have spoken out about their concerns and their campaign to bring in traffic calming measures.

A woman, who lives in Queen Anne Avenue and does not wish to be named, said: “I’ve lost count of the number of wing mirrors my friends and family have lost when they’ve come to visit me. It first happened to my sister a few weeks after I moved in.”

Resident Matthew Nunn, 44, said: “I'm not surprised - it is about time they did something. But the council will only do something if a catastrophe like this happens.

“I’m really shocked ay the speed they go. Sometimes I come out and just think, ‘how fast are you going?’

“People bomb along the road. I think something needs to be done about it.”
