THE end credits have rolled for an old Eltham cinema - which will now be turned into a gym.

Greenwich Council planning officials have agreed that the ground and first floors of the Coronet building foyer in Well Hall Road will be converted into a gymnasium.

The Grade II-listed cinema closed in 1999 and remained derelict for nearly a decade before plans to turn it into residential properties were approved in 2008.

Proposed opening hours for the new facility are 6am to 11pm on weekdays, and 7am to 11pm on weekends and bank holidays.

The foyer had originally been intended for use as a restaurant and community facility, with many residents backing the return of a cinema screen.
