A CAMPAIGN to end nuisance calls and texts has been boosted by Beckenham MP Colonel Bob Stewart.
He visited the nationwide Calling Time roadshow run by Which? on Monday (July 1) to pledge support for the scheme.
Research done by the charity has revealed 85 per cent people had received an unsolicited call in the last month and the campaign is calling for a tougher approach from the Government.
Recommendations include strengthening laws on consent and use of personal data and cooperation with the telecomms industry to provide technical fixes.
Col Stewart said: "Nuisance calls are a real problem for many people in Beckenham, so I’m glad that Which? is campaigning on this issue.
"I fully support this campaign and would urge anyone who shares my concern about nuisance calls to pledge their support too."
He is asking people affected by nuisance calls or texts to pledge their support for the Which? Calling Time on Nuisance Calls and Texts campaign at which.co.uk/campaigns and join the debate on Twitter using #callingtime
