A MOTHER is frightened her 14-year-old daughter could be driven to suicide because of a school bullying ‘nightmare’.

Taylor-Leigh Sandiford, of Arcus Road, Downham, had brain scans at Lewisham Hospital after allegedly being attacked so viciously she suffered temporary memory loss.

The bullies are said to have told the girl: "Your mum will be able to have a funeral by the weekend", before punching and stamping on her.

Mum Serbrina Sandiford, 33, has decided to keep Taylor-Leigh out of Haberdashers' Aske's Knights Academy in Launcelot Road, following the incidents despite several meetings with the teachers.

She said: "She’s been bullied for around five months after one of her friends was throwing something at the bin and it accidentally ended up near this group of girls.

"They started spitting on her in the corridors.

"In March, she was at a shop near the school and was punched.

"When she tried to leave her phone was taken off her so she couldn’t ring for help.

"After Taylor-Leigh had a maths exam a few days later about 14 other girls followed her from school and formed a circle around her while two of them grabbed her friend.

"They told her, ‘Your mum will be able to have a funeral by the weekend’.

"She was punched in the face, pushed onto the ground and stamped and trampled on and kicked - she said it felt like forever.

"Cars were stopping as she was being rolled into the road."

She added: "I saw my child lying on the ground crying and took her to Lewisham Hospital A&E.

"By the time I arrived, Taylor-Leigh was falling in and out of consciousness and feeling faint sick and dizzy.

"They kept us in for about 12 hours and did brain scans because they were worried she might have bleeding on her brain.

"My daughter’s living in a nightmare - she can’t sleep.

"We are worried our children will end up the same way as my daughter’s friend who hung herself a few weeks ago."

Haberdashers' Aske's Knights Academy Principal Dr Tesca Bennett said: "The safety and wellbeing of our pupils is paramount.

"We very much regret Ms Sandiford feels we are not addressing her daughter's needs.

"This is very far from the view we would wish her to take.

"Since Taylor-Leigh joined the school last year, we have been and continue to be completely committed to working with Mrs Sandiford in Taylor-Leigh's best interests."

A Lewisham police spokesman said: "We can confirm we were made aware of an incident that occurred on March 6 and an incident on June 18.

"Lewisham Police are investigating and enquiries are being made to locate the whereabouts of the suspect."

Some parents have complained to their MP.

Lewisham East MP Heidi Alexander said: "During the last year or so, I have been contacted by a small number of parents who are concerned about discipline at Knights.

"Some of the cases have been very worrying and I have met with senior school staff to talk through the problems.

"Clearly, if the problem is persisting, something else needs to be done."
