TOP comedian Jo Brand was in Bromley yesterday (June 30), helping raise awareness for a local mental health charity.

The popular comic attended an event for Community Options, which provides services to people with mental health needs in Bromley and the south east, in Fielding Lane.

Community Options chief executive Chris Mansi, 50, said: "It was a fantastic day and it really helped that so many people came out.

"Jo Brand was brilliant at meeting people who use our services. She talked to a lot of people and signed autographs.

"The highlight of the day for her was judging our cake decorating competition.

"We had a fabulous tombola, we had a human fruit machine which Jo thoroughly enjoyed playing.

"We had a lovely cake stall, a coconut shy, hook a duck and a raffle.

"The day was one of our ways of opening up to the community and raising awareness of mental health, as well as raising some money for our engagement inclusion services."

The charity's community engagement and inclusion services (CEIS) provide, among other things, a choir and theatre group for people with mental health needs in the borough.
