The day she was going to a vet to be spayed a cat escaped out of an open window and became pregnant for the second time in 12 weeks.

She had a litter of kittens in December and because of her escape gave birth to six more in March.

Their owner has found homes for four of the March kittens, leaving tortoiseshell Lola and black Toby on the waiting list.

Their fosterer Lynn Thorburn said: “We took these two in strictly on condition that the owner had the mother spayed immediately, so there will be no more unplanned litters.

“Lola and Toby are very friendly and have lovely temperaments. As soon as you touch them they purr, and are absolutely delightful.

“A new owner will need a secure garden and, if they have children they must be over six years old.”

The kittens, who have had their first vaccinations and been microchipped, will need to be kept indoors until they can be neutered at six months old.

If you can offer Lola and Toby a home, call 020 8265 3210.
