A VILLAGE in India stayed up late into the night to watch a popular music festival streamed live over the internet from Gravesend.

The first ever Gravesham Fusion Festival, celebrating food and music from around the world, took place in the Community Square on Saturday.

A performance from the Four by Four Bhangra Youth Club opened the festival, fusing sounds of the dhol drum with pop and American R&B.

Many acts were from the Dartford and Gravesend areas with locals Danny and Dan proving to be a hit with a comedy routine entertaining the audience.

A village in North India where performing Bhangra singer Ravi Josan is from stayed up late into the night to watch the performances as they were streamed over the internet.

Festival director Gurvinder Sandher said: "All in all this was a great event, the feedback not just from those who attended but also from overseas has been positive."
