TWO peacocks that appeared in Orpington yesterday have been wandering the streets for over a week, a resident has claimed.

Mark Telling, 51, of Craven Road, Orpington, says he saw the same two peacocks strutting down his road on June 23.

He said: "We were sitting there watching TV and one of our neighbours knocked on our door.

"There were two peacocks just walking down the middle of our road.

"One of them went into a garden and started pecking on some grass.

"Then it came out and they kept walking down the road."

Yesterday (June 30), the feathered creatures were seen parading around Hillview Crescent, Orpington, leaving locals baffled as to where they came from.

David Gaywood, of Hillview Crescent, said: "Yesterday they arrived in my neighbours garden and she didn't know what to do about them.

"They were flying up and down the road, some of my neighbours have fed them so they're quite tame.

"They're sitting on top of my shed now. They seem quite inquisitive.

"We think they are both male, young adults.

"They are mainly browny and pinky and they have bluish feathers when they put their feathers up."

The 65-year-old added: "Where the hell they came from I don't know.

"Someone must own them, but how do you lose a couple a peacocks?"

Victoria Vella, 35, also of Hillview Crescent, says the birds stayed in her garden overnight.

She told News Shopper: "They landed in our garden around six yesterday evening and have stayed there ever since.

"We put some water out for them and they have been pecking away at grubs and things. They are quite domesticated.

"They seem to be enjoying spending time on our patio, they slept there last night.

"They seem quite happy."
