ORPINGTON Hospital could be saved, King’s College Hospital NHS Trust has revealed.

The Trust has prepared a Full Business Case  for acquiring the Princess Royal University (PRU) in Farnborough and has provisionally agreed with the Department of Health that Orpington hospital also become part of their King’s for the next three years.

In a recent newsletter, King’s chief executive Tim Smart described how his employees had been consulting with Bromley residents through April and May to share proposals.

He said: “Whilst we recognise that there will be large challenges ahead, it is very pleasing to hear praise from the local community for some of the exceptional staff and services at the PRUH.

“You are telling us that there is a strong base of healthcare provision at the PRUH for us to build on and create a sustainable future for the hospital.”

“We feel Orpington hospital would provide very useful extra capacity for patients of the newly enlarged Trust over this period and we hope to be able to give you more details in future issues of this newsletter.”
