HE had pretty big roller skates to fill, but one Eltham youngster has proved talent runs in the family after taking part in a top competition.
Zachary Wootten, aged eight, competed in the artistic roller skating British Championships, reaching fifth place.
The Gordon Primary School pupil beat 16 other competitors in what was his first ever contest.
He has been coached in the sport - similar to ice figure skating - at the Merdian Skating Club in Orpington by his parents, who are former national champions themselves.
Dad Justin, 42, said: "As this was Zac’s first ever competition we are so proud as his coaches and his parents - he didn’t put a foot wrong and looked so confident, he works so hard when he trains, he is a real credit to his sport.
"Big things are expected of Zac as he progresses in the sport."
