TWO Lewisham drug dealers have today been jailed for a total of 35 years for firearms and drug offences following a police raid.
Officers discovered loaded weapons - including a gun used in gang-related shootings - as well as up to £40,000 of heroin, cocaine, and cannabis in a block of flats in Dulwich in October last year.
Keenon Jones, aged 19, of Laleham Road, Catford, was sentenced to 19 years in prison for three counts of conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life, two counts of conspiracy to supply class A drugs and one count of conspiracy to supply class B drugs.
Colin Skyers, aged 20, of Foxborough Gardens, Brockley, was sentenced to 16 years in prison for three counts of conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life and one count of conspiracy to supply class A drugs.
The pair were sentenced along with another man and woman for drug and firearms offences at Woolwich Crown Court on June 11.
Trident Gang Crime Command led the operation and says the convictions send a clear message they will "relentlessly pursue" those involved in gun crime.
Detective Inspector Paul Dorey said: "Trident officers continually target the suppliers of lethal firearms, protecting the public by removing guns from the hands of organised criminals and gangs.
“Last year Trident officers seized more than 100 firearms and a large amount of ammunition from the streets of London.
“The number of shootings taking place in London has also significantly reduced, with 20 per cent fewer incidents than last year.
"Investigations confirmed one of the handguns was involved in two previous non-fatal gang-related shootings.
“With this in mind, these firearms would most certainly have been involved in further shootings had they not been seized by police.”
He went on to praise DC Martin Reader for his "exceptional" work in the case.
Skyers had previously admitted the charges on April 2 and Jones was found guilty by a Woolwich Crown Court jury on April 23.
David MacKenzie, 33, was previously found not guilty of three counts of conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life.
