TEACHER Jeremy Forrest from Petts Wood appeared at Lewes Crown Court yesterday (June 10) for the start of a child abduction trial.

Forrest, 30, was arrested in Bordeaux, France, on September 28 last year following the issuing of a European Arrest Warrant.

Following extradition to Britain, Forrest was charged by Sussex Police on October 10 with abducting a child, who cannot be identified for legal reasons.

At a plea and case management hearing at Lewes Crown Court in January, Forrest pleaded not guilty to one count of child abduction when he appeared via videolink from HMP Lewes.

Forrest, of Chislehurst Road, Petts Wood, will face a two-week trial at the same court. He is in custody.

The details of the case cannot yet be reported for legal reasons.
