AUSTRALIAN Peter Miles was welcomed by Bexley College after being awarded a prestigious plumbing award.
Mr Miles, headteacher of plumbing at North Sydney College, came to Bexley on May 16 as part of his tour exploring the UK’s plumbing industry.
The 2012 World Plumbing Council (WPC) Education and Training Scholarship winner and tradesman of 17 years, was pleased to discover the standards of plumbling tuition were as good as that of Australia, and even better in some areas.
Mr Miles was impressed by the professionalism and enthusiasm of plumbing tutors and Bexley's duty of care for apprentices in the workplace.
He also highlighted the similarities between the British and Australian teaching methods.
Mr Miles calls the plumbing trade a fraternity, one where knowledge and experience is constantly shared with the new generation.
