A BEXLEYHEATH schoolgirl has died suddenly after suffering a suspected epileptic fit at her home.

Jamie-Leigh Lynch, 15, was rushed to King’s College Hospital in Southwark by ambulance yesterday afternoon (June 5) but sadly passed away last night.

She was a Year 11 student at Bexleyheath Academy.

Principal Carl Wakefield paid tribute to Jamie-Leigh in a statement this morning: “It is with great sorrow that I have to confirm the sad loss of a 15-year-old Bexleyheath Academy student following a suspected epileptic fit at her home yesterday.

"Jamie will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

"Our thoughts and prayers are very much with her family and friends at this very difficult and challenging time.

“Jamie-Leigh Lynch was a fantastic, warm hearted girl who made everyone who knew her happy with her brilliant sense of humour.

"She had many excellent friendships here. Jamie loved life, participating in events, school trips and was addicted to sport and working in P.E.”

Jamie-Leigh's death comes exactly four months after fellow Year 11 pupil at Bexleyheath Academy Philip Lamin collapsed and died playing football.

Tributes have been flooding in on Twitter following the news of her sudden passing.

@_itsjanice tweeted: "I didn't want it to be true. Beautiful, funny girl. Completely heartbreaking. So young, too young.”

@OMG_EmmaLee posted: “So sad to have lost our best player on the team, i will always remember how you brought humour to the team. RIP Jamie-Leigh X”

@AbbieBurness said: "Oh God. Today's going to be so hard. Rest in perfect peace, angel. Sleep tight. RIP Jamie-Leigh. <3 <3 X x x."

@YoungThatter tweeted: "R.I.P Jamie-Leigh <3 such a beautiful, smiley, talented girl! Known you for about 9 years now, take care angel x"

James Hunt at charity Young Epilepsy, who organised a fundraising event at the school last year, said: “We were extremely saddened to hear of the death of Jamie-Leigh Lynch.

"We would like to offer our deepest condolences to her family, friends and teachers at this difficult time.

“It’s tragic that more than 1,000 people die from epilepsy every year, yet in half of all cases the cause of death remains unknown.”
